About Hawaii District Office

The Hawaii District Office, under the leadership of District Director Jane A. Sawyer,oversees the delivery of SBA’s programs throughout the State of Hawaii, the Territories of Guam and American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Palau, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Services Available

Over the years, the SBA has developed many small business loan and assistance programs, special outreach efforts and initiatives to aid and inform small businesses. The following describes briefly all the services and information available through this office:

Free counseling to aspiring entrepreneurs as well as small business veterans is available through SCORE and the Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) located throughout Hawaii. SCORE and the SBDCs offer regular workshops and seminars at little or no cost to prospective small business owners.

SBDC Centers are located on the Big Island of Hawaii, Oahu, Maui and Kauai. The Oahu Center is located at 1833 Kalakaua Ave., Ste. 400; phone 945-1430

Assistance to businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals is available through the Minority Enterprise Development Program. For more information, please contact our Minority Enterprise Development staff at (808) 541-2990 Ext. 214. Orientation workshops for the 8(a) Program are held regularly – please call (808) 541-2990 to reserve a space.

International trade assistance is available through a special loan program called the Export Working Capital Guarantee Program, and International Trade Counselors are available to help small business owners with their export plans.

Veterans Affairs Officer is available to counsel veterans who want to start their own business. For more information about assistance in this areas, please call (808) 541-2990.

Financial assistance for new or existing businesses is available, working with area banks.
