The Foreign-Trade Zones Board recently released their 2019 report to Congress.

According to the report, there were 193 FTZs active during the year, with a total of 348 active production operations. Over 460,000 persons were employed at some 3,300 firms in FTZs during the year. Hawaii served 365 companies, the majority of them small businesses that employed over 2,500 people.

Out of the 193 active FTZs, Hawaii placed in the top 25 states in Merchandise Received, Exports, Warehouse Distribution, and Production Activity. FTZ9 came in 19th for Exports by Zone.

With warehouse demand remaining strong, despite the pandemic, FTZ9’s warehouse operations expect to keep busy supporting Hawaii’s import and export businesses.
